旗頭は、男性陣が士気を高めるために掲げる重く大きなのぼり。沖縄各地にシンボルとなる意匠があり、大綱引きなどのイベントでも披露される。若衆達が慎重かつ力強く支柱の丸太を抱える様は圧巻。首里では、11月3日の文化祭で古式行列とともに各町の旗頭がパレードで披露され、最後に一箇所に集まり「ガーエー」と呼ばれる掛け合い勝負が行なわれる。 今年も勇士を楽しみたいと思う。平和に感謝。
